First Birthdays.

So Friday was the first birthday party for the little girl I am taking care of and I got to make the cake! I used Grandma's vanilla cake recipe for one layer and her chocolate cake recipe for the other layer! Grandma, you would be proud! Everyone loved not only how the cake looked, but how it tasted! Thanks Grandma for the best cake recipes ever!

In addition to the most delicious cake recipe in the whole world (again, thanks grandma), Ev received so many presents! Most of the presents of course make some type of music or rhymes or stories, so I am sure I will be very refreshed in the nursery rhyme department by the end of the summer! (thanks mom for teaching me so many!)

First birthdays are so great! Baby gets a first taste of cake, mom and dad are in awe of how their baby is now becoming a toddler, and everyone else gets to spoil baby with presents and laugh at how cute they are bare bummed and covered in gooey icing. Such fun!

The party continued even after all the little kids went home and Ev was in bed, and I was able to get to know some more people over a couple of drinks. What a great bunch of people that live out here. I have never felt so welcome and at home in a place so far from my own home.
